Indian Railway

During the peak of the COVID-19 crisis, when healthcare capacity was under severe pressure, I independently explored how existing national infrastructure could be rapidly repurposed to address emergency isolation needs. Drawing on my understanding of railway operations and modular systems, I developed a concept proposing the conversion of idle rolling stock into temporary isolation wards — a solution designed for speed, scalability, and geographic flexibility.

I translated the idea into a structured proposal outlining operational feasibility, infrastructure constraints, and potential deployment models. The concept was formally submitted to relevant government bodies, including the Ministry of Railways and the Prime Minister’s Office, and was acknowledged within days.

While the proposal was exploratory, the experience reinforced my belief that design thinking is not limited to digital products — it can operate at systems level, bridging infrastructure, policy, and execution in moments of urgency.
